Personal & Professional Development
Personal and professional development for students at LSA is key to what we are teaching our students; setting them up for success and the working world. There are a number of ways we do this. These include: Understanding and signing The LSA Pledge, education through weekly PSHCE sessions, ensuring British Values are lived through the curriculum and daily LSA life, and engaging with interventions to support personal growth.
The LSA Pledge
Designed in collaboration with BBC Studios, the LSA Pledge provides students with clear behaviour guidelines and encourages development to prepare them for careers in the screen industry. By signing the LSA Pledge, students commit to:
1) Live LSA’s Values
2) Strive to develop as a professional
3) Adhere to industry practice
All Level 3 and Level 4 students sign this agreement during their induction to LSA, and it remains in effect throughout their time at the college.
British Values at London Screen Academy
LSA is a mixed, multicultural institution. As a community, we are dedicated to providing a range of opportunities that enable all of our students to flourish.
Part of our role in preparing students at LSA for adult life in modern Britain is ensuring that we promote British Values to our students. The government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy and these were reinforced in 2014. The British Values are:
Democracy
The Rule of Law
Individual Liberty
Mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
At LSA students will encounter these values within the curriculum and through our provision for the social, moral, spiritual and cultural development of all who attend the academy. We aim to ensure that the values filter through everyday college life and link with our core values.
